Our chicken is raised without the use of any hormones, antibiotics, medications, or other chemicals from day one. We feed our Cornish hybrid broiler chickens a diet of locally produced, organic, soy-free, non-GMO, non-medicated feed in addition to all of the wild, chemical-free salad bar pasture and juicy bug buffet they can forage. Purple Mockingbird Farm goes the extra mile to ensure that our chickens are healthy, comfortable, stress-free, and on clean, fresh pasture every day. These plump chickens spend their days soaking up the sun or lounging in the shade while snacking on grasshoppers. This ensures that the chicken that you purchase is as healthy and delicious as possible.
Within the context of our regenerative farming principles, these guys play an important role aside from providing nutritious, healthy protein. They also provide our pastures with fertilizer from their manure and by dispersing that of the cattle, goats, and sheep when they scratch at the ground hunting for insects, seeds, and other delicious morsels. This helps to ensure that the nutrients taken from the land to produce these animals are returned, reducing or eliminating the need to have additional fertilizers brought in from outside the farm. This is one of the many ways in which regenerative farming helps to reduce the impact of agriculture and improve the environment rather than harming it.
