The gorgeous eggs produced each day by our heritage breed laying flock are no “egg-ception” to our commitment to healthy, chemical-free, and delicious products or to regenerating this land. Our flock is free-ranging and rotated around the property onto new, chemical-free pasture every week to keep them happy and healthy as well as to maximize the benefits they offer the land. Not only do they help to fertilize with their manure, but they also do some tilling of the soil and spreading of nutrients as they scratch and peck. Pest management is another of the many services provided by those busy birds, as they happily gobble up insects and such as they go. Though they do a great job of foraging out in the chemical-free pastures, we do supplement their diets with organic, soy-free poultry feed to ensure they are receiving all of the nutrition they need to produce incredible eggs. We provide our over-achieving ladies with organic feed milled locally at New Country Organics here in Virginia.
Our holistic, chemical-free management practices exclude the use of chemicals on our land and the use of routine medications, hormones, or antibiotics on our animals.
The foraging for grasses, flowers, herbs, fruits, and insects that our chickens are able to do while free-ranging combined with the organic feed they are fed allows them to lay healthy, delicious, nutrient-packed eggs that aren’t like anything you may find in the grocery store cooler.
